Shopping in Songdo
South Korea is one of the most impressive countries for shopping because of the large selection of stores and brands that are available. Whether you are a shopaholic, or you don’t need to browse too many stores, the shopping in the Songdo International Business District has something for everyone. There are a few shopping destinations that we’d like to recommend but before we get to that here a few things to keep in mind while shopping in South Korea.
Tax Free Shopping
Like many other countries around the world, South Korea is a country that takes part in the Tax Free Shopping system as well. One type of tax free shopping is the duty free shopping at South Korea’s international airports and seaports. Here the tax free shopping is like every other shopping set up globally. The other possibility for tax free shopping in Korea is to look out for “tax free” certified shops and brands and make purchases from there. To receive an immediate tax refund on purchases at Tax Free stores, you must present your passport. Eligible purchases must be more than 30,000 won and less than 200,000 won, tax included. The immediate tax refund is limited to a total purchase amount of less than 1,000,000 won for the entire duration of one’s trip in Korea.
Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to find some even better deals while shopping for your favourite brands. Here are some of the best shopping areas that you can find in Songdo.
NC Cube Mall / Canal Walk Shopping Street
Located close to the Central Park metro station and the International Business District metro station, the Canal Walk Shopping Street is a fairly new shopping area in Songdo. The NC Cube Mall is the biggest mall that is on this street and it contains many big brand stores. The Canal Walk Shopping Street is as the name suggests an artificial canal flanked by two parallel streets that extend for a stretch. Canal Walk is divided into four areas which are themed according to the four main seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. This area has many high-end shopping stores, coffee shops and home wares to name but a few stores.
Hyundai Premium Outlet
One of the best shopping experiences in South Korea has to be a visit to a Hyundai Premium Outlet location. Luckily, one of the best Hyundai Premium Outlet is in Songdo and it’s a blast for the whole family. For a great deal, Hyundai Premium Outlet is hard to beat as it is home to around 300 brand outlet stores, a truly huge selection to search from. There are plenty of restaurants located here for a quick snack or meal. Another huge draw is the amount of family friendly attractions here such as a carousel and a train ride. Enjoy a whole day of shopping and entertainment at Hyundai Premium Outlet.
Easily one of the biggest retail spaces in Songdo, the Triple Street Mall is one divided into 4 buildings that are connected at the basement level. There are multiple pathways that connect the buildings at various levels. You will find plenty of dining and entertainment options at Triple street including Megabox, which is Songdo’s first theater. There are hundreds of shops to choose from at Triple Street and we doubt you’ll miss out on anything from a shopping perspective. Triple Street is also connected to many other buildings such as the Hyundai Premium Outlet.
