The coolest Korean Music Festivals to see in 2018

The 5 Coolest Korean Music Festivals to Check Out in 2018

2018 is shaping up to be a big year for music festivals in Korea. Here are some festivals we think you should attend.

With Summer not too far off, everyone is opening the music festival calendar to see where they are going party. Every year, the list of music festivals seems to grow in Korea and the Incheon region has also seen a sharp increase in festivals nearby. Here is a list of the 5 coolest Korean Music festivals you can check out in 2018.

Asian Song Festival

This annual Asian pop music festival has been held in South Korea since 2004 and it has been very influential in bringing the music scene in Asia closer together. Entrants come from different countries across Asia to celebrate Asian Pop music with a huge live concert in Seoul. The event is hosted by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange and this stage features some of the most exciting new music in Asia.

Pentaport Rock Festival

One of Korea’s biggest and oldest rock festivals is held right here in Songdo! International business district hotels are not usually neighbors of summer music festivals but here in Songdo, anything is possible. The Pentaport Rock Festival has had huge names headlining the show such Dua Lipa, Bastille, Justice, Weezer, The Prodigy and many more.  The 2018 headliners have not yet been named but it’ll be a fantastic lineup yet again. Stay at the Holiday Inn Incheon Songdo, which is only 10 minutes away from the Songdo Moonlight Festival Park (the festival venue), when you attend the Pentaport Rock Festival.

K-Pop World Festival

As one of Korea’s biggest exports, it was only natural that K-Pop would get its own festival. Every year, K-Pop performers from around the world are selected to compete in the world finals held in Seoul. The opportunity to perform great K-Pop songs in front of the biggest audience is something very few people ever get, which is why Korean fans are blown away by the tremendous spirit shown by the competitors. A panel of judges and the audience voting determine the grand prize winner and the other category winners. If you are a K-Pop fan, this event should be on your must-see list.

Seoul Jazz Festival

Jazz lovers can look forward to the evergreen Seoul Jazz Festival that is held in the Olympic Park every year. It has been 11 years since the first edition of the festival and the modest lineup has now increased greatly to include huge international artists as well. Artists to headline the Jazz festival include Jamiroquai, Herbie Hancock, Chick Correa, Sergio Mendes and Basement Jaxx to name but a few. Even though the 2018 lineup has yet to be announced, tickets are already on sale with Early Bird Tickets already selling out!

Ultra Korea

Electronic Dance Music has taken over the world already and there are few EDM festivals bigger than the Ultra festivals. Ultra Korea has been a major fixture on the music festival calendar since 2012 and the festival has an extremely dedicated following. Last year’s edition, which featured the likes of Axwell^Ingrosso, Dash Berlin, Steve Aoki and many more, sold out their allotted tickets within just one day!

Aside from the ones we’ve mentioned, there are dozens of other great music festivals taking place throughout Korea this year. If you need to find a hotel in Songdo, stay with us at the Holiday Inn Incheon Songdo, which is close to the Incheon International Airport, before traveling to festivals within Korea.
